New spindles to match original surviving ones that were located around the stairwell from the chapel to the gallery.

Day 132 - New Staircase Starts to be Erected

Today the new staircase started to be fitted together providing a link between the basement and the chapel.

The parts for the new staircase arrived today.

This is where the new staircase will be fitted tomorrow. To allow access between the basement and the main chapel floor.

Day 97 - New Staircase - Joists Removed

With the floorboards removed yesterday the floor joists were removed to allow for the new staircase to be constructed.
This opens up a large space in the NW corner of the building allowing light to flood down into new stairwell.

Day 96 - New Stairwell Starts to be Constructed - Lifting Floorboards

Week 21 - Day 96
A section of the chapel floorboards were lifted today to allow for the construction of the new staircase.
two sets of pews have had to be removed to allow for the stairs to be located in the NW corner of the building

Day 16 - NW Corner Cleared - location of new staircase

Week 4 - Day 16
The NW corner of the cellar has been cleared of the modern inserted toilets.
This is the area that a new staircase and a disabled lift will be inserted to enable the new use to comply with todays access regulations.
